Modes

There are several modes in the application, only the first one is available in the basic version:

Classic lap mode
The first mode is defined by default into the settings. It is typically used on a course, where you don't know exactly its length and lap after lap, you don't ride with the same trajectory so it matters that you click each time to mark the begin/end of the lap. Example of a course where this mode is mandatory:

Out and back mode
On this mode, you need to enable GPS on the phone. You will click only once at the first lap and the GPS position will be recorded and used to end/begin a lap (blue part) during the run. On the red dotted part of the loop, you would slow down and brake safely to turn. The start/end of the laps should be located on a flat portion of the road.

Defined lap length mode
It is typically on a velodrome that this mode should be selected as you know accurately the length of a lap on the black line (250 m or 333,3 m according the track, to be specified in the application settings). The main advantage is that you do not have to push the click button each lap so it is easier to focus on a constant position. You just have to click once at the beginning of a run on a cross line of the track. The best advice here is to select one at the middle of a straight. It is possible, depending of your ability to consistently stay on the black line or because of the tire circumference given in the settings is slightly different to the real one, that the defined length is under or over your real lap length. To check and correct that, activate the speech option in the settings which tells your last CdA, just after the line. If you see that the voice message is more and more sooner, increase a little the defined lap length in the settings (251 m or 334 m) for the next runs.

Velodrome mode
It is the previous mode with additional models for the bike and rider movement equation. The track is modeled (see here). For the moment, the COM (center of mass) speed is computed into the equation. Work in progress.

Criterium mode

This mode can be used during a criterium race to see the evolution of your aero according to race conditions. For instance, you can see your skill to shelter in the pack and what is your drag when you are soloing in front of the peloton.
Check the GPS is activated on your phone, and select the mode on the starting line. The run will start automatically once a threshold speed has been reached during the first meters of the race. Each turn is detected via GPS and an apparent CdA is computed for the lap.

Time trial mode
This mode is activated on the starting line. The run will start automatically once a power threshold is reached during the very first second of your time trial. You will have to click the red button, though, after the finish line and the app will print your several metrics about your TT (average power, speed, cadence) and your CdA. This mode is only available if you have a barometer on your phone, as the start and finish line may not be at the same elevation.
